Edinboro offers same-day admission decision

Prospective Edinboro University of Pennsylvania students can complete the application process and receive an admissions decision on the same day as part of Edinboro's "On the Spot" admissions events.

The events will be held in the EU Admissions Office in Academy Hall, 200 E. Normal St., Edinboro, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and from 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Students who have applications on file can bring their missing credentials to the Admissions Office and receive an admission decision before they leave campus.

Those who have not yet applied can complete an application, and if they bring copies of their transcripts and SAT/ACT test scores, they also can receive an "On the Spot" decision.

ETI offers new grants for entrepreneurs

The Erie Technology Incubator at Gannon University will offer two additional programs to assist area entrepreneurs in early 2016.

The first program is a continuation of the university's successful Technology Business Accelerator, which has trained nearly 75 entrepreneurs representing 48 businesses and concepts. Applicants accepted to the Accelerator program receive training in such areas as sales, marketing, finance, accounting, raising capital and the legal environment, while preparing for a competitive pitch event in which the winner receives a $10,000 startup grant.

The second component is a new program called Gannon Entrepreneurship Microgrants for Startups, which will provide grants ranging from $3,000 - $9,000 to technology-enabled businesses for specific growth initiatives. The G.E.M.S. fund will provide access to $155,000 in microgrants between January and May.

Mercyhurst's ballet program lauded

Dance magazine in its November issue recognized Mercyhurst University for the strength of its ballet program.

Joining Mercyhurst in the recognition were two other schools: the University of South Carolina and the Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.

Mercyhurst offers both a bachelor of arts degree and a bachelor of fine arts degree in dance. In addition to its ballet program, the university offers courses in modern, jazz, tap, musical theater, dance history, choreography, music for dancers, dance conditioning and more. The program is directed by Tauna Hunter.

Allegheny's psychology program ranked

Allegheny College has been ranked seventh among the top "up and coming" undergraduate psychology programs in the East by the organization Best Psychology Degrees.

Among the criteria used to determine the ranking were innovative instructional methods, such as experiential learning; research, internship and study-abroad opportunities in psychology; use of cutting-edge technological resources; recent additions and renovations to facilities; and what Best Psychology Degrees calls the "wow" factor.
